What People Say

We so much enjoyed our stay with Kathy and Rick. They are so very welcoming and interesting. The place is perfect and we especially enjoyed the wood fire on a cold and soggy night! We hope to see them again. We highly recommend this place to everyone!

Loved our stay at Kathy and Rick’s farm. Great location and wonderful hosts. We’ll be back!

Abend Hafen farm is a lovely get-away that is the perfect blend of remote yet close to some of Dorchester County's best tourist destinations: Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, the Harriett Tubman Underground Railroad Park and Visitor's Center, and the cute town of Cambridge. Plus, it's smack dab in the middle of the Harriett Tubman Underground Railroad Byway, a driving tour that can be downloaded and provides a moving audio history. The space itself is cozy and was perfect for our family of four. It was clean as a whistle, the beds were comfortable, and there were plenty of pillows. And the farm provides a perfect backdrop, with beautiful walks through the woods and to a picturesque pond that comes alive in late winter with wood ducks (and hosts other water birds--such as great blue heron--the rest of the year). Kathy and Rick could not have been nicer or more gracious hosts who can provide keen insights about local life and opportunities. We highly recommend this to others who want to enjoy the slower pace and pastoral beauty of Maryland's Eastern Shore. I'm certain we'll return!
